Anyway, I always thought directions were given like "10° North", and I don't think most people will know what "ten degrees direction" means, but it's not that big a deal. I didn't realize there would be this much disagreement over this. People will figure it out from checking the map either way.

A bigger issue I think is the save feature, I'm not seeing how to save games other than turning on the autosave, which doesn't let you save multiple games. That will be a serious playability factor, along with the crashing during battles. The direction stuff is just a minor detail.

Hello, friend. You are not alone in missing the save button; it took me about 3 hours of gameplay until I actually found the menu for saving. When you are traveling, there is a huge red button on the bottom of your HUD, kind of like the record/stop button on a tape recorder. Click it, and you will be presented with a save and load menu.

The saving options in this game are actually superb; there is auto save, save to memory, and save to disk, so that you can create backup saves not reliant on browser data! That way, one can return to almost any time of their jouerny (I was meticulous, so I have 20 saves on my desktop, for each 2 hour period of play during my work breaks).

Try it out!

Hey, thank you so much Lucas! Definitely good stuff there.

The only issue I am running into is the fact that I keep "killing" the trucks; the Uni Alphas have how much health, exactly? Sorry for the continued questions, but I just cant seem to get my hand on one.

Perhaps its because I switched over to Grenade Launchers; the nades that miss seem to invariably ram straight into the truck, doing 500-100 damage a time. I think that after 3-4 of those, the truck "breaks"; it would be nice to have some visual confirmation of this, but I wont complain. (brilliant beta as it is, I have no intention of bitching about something small like that)

But yeah, any tips on taking them out without doing massive damage to the tank thing would be great.

Last thing; the Qubba troops and the Liberation army are the only avaliable allies, right? I got Lois and a girl commander from the oil city down south, but other than that, I did not find any other willing fighters in the "free" states and the "slave" states of the south. Oh well. And those armies seem quite useless, as it seems that even one Federation army can take out all 5 invading Qubba armies in a single sweep. Bit disheartening, as my band of 22 soldiers can reliably hold there own against 2 groups, but 4? Dang, maybe, but with almost all my loved men dead or wounded beyond recognition...

Get m21's and nade launchers. On the first move just rearrange your troop into a line. Then take out their nade launchers and then just whatever is the closest. Be sur to wait 1 turn before attacking with grenade launchers because they're closer together( so miss shots are more likely to hit someone else) or shot from a diagonal position, so that most of the ground behind or in front of the target is covers - more chance to hit someone. I lost only Spencer rice in all 4 or 5 battles battles, but I took a long time to position my troop and I was extreme lucky to get open space between my troops and theirs. I don't think you can recruit anyone else. I tried with kivi but they wouldn't budge and i also killed the guy from the top camp.

Also I have no idea how much hp they have but I I remember correctly they have 1200.?? Idk and I'm too tired to check, maybe tomorrow, remind me...

Well, I think I hit the 'big fight' at Auz a bit too early, so I went to a save before I . My question is, what can I do while I'm saving money and powering up?

More specifically, are there any quests/special encounters left? I finished the liberation army quests.

What about all of the cities in the east? It seems like quests took me to nearly every western city, but there was no reason to go anywhere in the East other than Qbba and Petrol.

I never did figure out the deal with the gold near Pullid, either... just got a dialogue about a warehouse.

Any advice?

Great work on the game though, I'm just providing feedback because I want to see Caravaneer do well. Mentioning possible improvements is my way of trying to help the project. Overall it is very, very good already, and doesn't need to be in Beta as far as I'm concerned, although I suppose I haven't seen more than the initial towns and dialogue. I would recommend just publishing it now and update it as necessary because it's ready so far as I'm concerned.

The save feature is the main issue I've seen that needs to be worked on first before it's fully ready, but otherwise it looks complete.

Oh, alright, thanks! I wonder why there isn't a save feature available in towns? Travel between them is pretty fast and you're focused on the surrounding area, people are less likely to notice a save feature while traveling than while in a town where they can relax. The game's dynamic forces you to just focus on getting to the next town as quickly as possible while on the map, rather than looking around, so I didn't even notice a save feature while traveling.

because you click travel, which means you want to travel, if you want to be paused then leave the town and then use the map. It's so people don't get anoyed and still have an option of pausing

Only one 10 degrees direction possible? What do you mean? A compass has numerous directions. And "always measure north"? I'm not sure where you come from, maybe that's a custom in your country, but in the United States there is no such practice of "always measur[ing] north."

The game makes a mistake by not specifying which direction is being referred to, not sure why you disagree.

If you still don't believe the other guys then i guess the Americans are the odd ones out all schools in Europe (when taught about maps and/or the navy) tell you that to shorten messages between ships and large groups people just send the degrees (especially in Morse code.

Also when you look at the compass you often see a red line indicating north, you usually measure from there unless specified otherwise

Most peaople would know what 10° means (by watching a map).
10° North is a latitude and x°[N|S] y°[W|E] a location.

But instead of either look up or belive the so much people you still plead your stupid thesis.

And by the way, there is a safe function. There is a manual too, read it.

Need some help/advice.
I am in the Qubba area and cant figure out how/where to get new missions. Have the map of the fed area already but when i try to enter a town it tells me I am not allowed to.

Missions completed:
-bring leaver/crossbow to apis
-find kivi religion book
-meet lois @pullid
-infiltrate kivi camp
-spencer rice help
-negotations kivi-drekar
-bring kukul book
-kevins letter to mustaparta
-get rid of narzians
-find new place for narzians
-convince priest to condemn slavery
-bring kevin new music
-clear murray hill
-start cannabis plantation
-missing people @confusion
-help mikaze oil rebels

after that the liberation army guy told me to Qubba but there is nothing to do.

failed missions:
-insects to kukul
-buy kevins house

open missions:
-find olaf
-info about emilias sons disease
-bring dead baby to jacob fuller/confusion

Only listed everything in case I missed something in some town which would trigger some new missions.
Any advice would be nice.

Hey Joshua,

I registered to this forum to specifically address your confusion regarding compass directions.

I think you might be confusing longitude and latitude navigation.
When navigating with Lat and Long directions usually a N (North) or S (South) and a W (west) or E (East) is used. For example, the U.S. Capitol is located at 38°53'23"N , 77°00'27"W (38 degrees, 53 minutes, and 23 seconds north of the equator and 77 degrees, no minutes and 27 seconds west of the meridian passing through Greenwich, England). This is UNIVERSAL (most every country uses this for Lat and Long navigation.

However, when using a compass, you do not use a "North, South, East or West" heading as the 360 deg of the compass already takes this into consideration.

For example 90 deg is ALWAYS EAST (regardless of what country you are in). 180 is ALWAYS South, 270 is ALWAYS West..and 0 is ALWAYS North. So 10 deg is just East of true North...ALWAYS.

I hope that helps - I think you were getting confused by Lat and Long navigation.

Edit: for further clarification - Lat/Long is usually used as a geo location, to mark something specific (a military target or your favorite camp spot) - it's not normally used for navigation while traveling as the Lat/Long position does not take into account your current location (it's just a location on Earth).. you still need a compass to know its relative direction from wherever you are.

For example I could give you a specific Lat/Long point and then tell you to head 220 deg for 17 miles to get to it. That would tell you automatically (or look at your compass) that the destination is roughly SW of your current position by 17 miles.

One thing bugs me. Why is the amount calculator in the trade screen upside down? Adder machines and accounting devices like calculators all have the number 1 at the bottom and 9 at the top. Only phones have 9 on the bottom. Plus, since the amount calculator allows keyboard input (meaning you can use the keyboard to enter numbers on the calculator), the numbers that your fingers hit do not correspond to the number pad on the screen.

If you mean the 1M, they move at 220 degrees and stop somewhere between Hugo and Confusion from their reference point @Lost.

You can get free water, forage and food from Sapoboi (the settlement and not the person ) later on.

If you sent them to the tribes...they'll add to the local industry unemployed :p
I'm unsure on this though. I sent them to the Pullid (only possible if Lois has a high + with you I believe?). This triggered a quite nice dialogue scenario where they bonded together quite well.

If you mean sending them to be converted to TMoZ...err.

As far as I know, you can't...yet? Hopefully it's a YET TO BE IMPLEMENTED >_>

Because I've done all I could for the Pullid (Success in early game + even got all the companions to live vs Regin's Gang...oh dear goodness I /dislike/ that we can't edit their configuration [though its funny that a crossbow + sabre-type can kill gunmen who can't bloody aim] :I)...

Yeah.
However I do seriously hope that Lois is recruitable in the released game.
Very much.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Edit:
Woah.
You /can/ recruit Lois. Though its on a specific faction branch (and really unsure if its based on reputation with her personally).
Those are quite nice stats.

And Elite in Crossbows/Swords.

Edit II:
Recruitable Merc in Qubba with a...special portrait? Joey Ang.
Strange...seems very out of place, that one.

Also Pirate Hideout (Brethren of the Sands) = 362km; 36.4 degrees from the Sandstorm Basin. Basically in line on the route from Brew Sleeves to Kulin.

So far, i haven't found any issues with the story, except that you can't wait somewhere and come back to spencer Rice directly and lie to him.

On the other side, I do find annoying the total lack of accuracy of the weapons witout scopes. Even the first rifles should have at least 50% chance of hitting... something... from the other side of the map when you shoot at a group of 7 raiders packed together.

I recently made the first trek to Qubba and was attacked by the, in my opinion, overpowered "Mad Dogs". I won and took pretty much everything they had. After defeating a few more groups of "Mad Dogs" I had more than enough horses for my entire caravan. I went to mount my whole caravan on the horses (I have more than enough space to do so) i found that i couldn't put more than four of them as a passenger. The majority of my caravan did not appear in the passenger menu, and i have to keep moving at 5 km/hr, and recieve constant attacks by Mad Dogs despite having about 30 horses. Granted I would have to get rid of my camels to go faster than 7 km/hr but still.

Try the distribute passengers button in the overview menu maybe.

Also, remember that you lose the carrying capacity of the passenger, plus take the passenger's weight from the horse's capacity. So if the horse could carry 150 pounds and your 100 lb character can carry 50, you can haul 200 lbs if you are not a passenger. But then get n the horse, and your character capacity is gone (-50) and your weight is added to the horse (-100), so your new carrying capacity is only 50 lbs.

How I did it...

***On the road to Qubba!!! =D
I used 3 horses and 3 carts with 6 mercenaries to make it there safely. I also had a cash supply over 1 million.
This was rather easy to accomplish once I discovered a few highly profitable trade routes.
ALKUBRA
-Buy Lubricant in New Serino ... Sell anywhere
-Buy Alcohol in Huira or New Serino ... Sell anywhere
-Buy Textiles in Fort Mitchell ... Sell in Huira or New Serino
JANUBI
-Buy Yarn in Tobar ... Sell in Botxo
-Buy Wool in Botxo ... Sell in Tobar

***Livin' the easy life in Qubba
-Buy Concrete and sell it anywhere
-Start Yarn industry in Qubba (expansion is your friend)
-Buy military armor and rocket launchers

Just some hints from your insane friend in the wasteland.
-Don't bother with industry outside Qubba
Because of Qubba's economy, you don't need to provide any supplies. Just money.
-Don't bother with those ToeCutters
There are many reasons... Long story short, you get what you pay for.
-Go back west and send your people to school
I've spent millions at the Police Academy and in training Mechanic skill

Loot containers... ALWAYS! I mean, I never found myself wishing I had fewer liquid containers...

Ask questions instead of learning the hard way.

From Fort Mitchell

The town is Ozbet. There you can buy a map of the Janubi region.
I made it there without fighting by repeatedly loading autosaves.
