What happened to the past Caravaneer 2 thread? It seems it was deleted?

@youtou: The beta will still be going in for a long while, as kmjencks said. There are still some few bugs (and misconnected dialogues present) which may make some minor bits confusing (though still doable) in my opinion.

They are pretty much moved by Caravan (in the Eastern sector). I've seen one as far as Northway.

...Literally. One. :P
Though that was a once-in-a-load thing though.

Some feedback on improving Caravaneer 2.

-In the original briefing, "Ok, let me brief you..." he doesn't say what direction the 10 degrees is in.
-In the tutorial message for the caravan crew menu it should say "In the Crew section...", the word the is missing.
-Veterinary should be Veterinarian in Caravan menu skills. SMGs should not have an apostrophe.
-In Statistics Wealthiness should be Wealth.

Hunting and Gathering in the Settings menu both reduce your speed by 0.2. Also, you should try clicking the Passengers button in Overview tab or assigning them by yourself if you haven't done so already.

there is only one 10 degrees direction possible, if you mean to make it more "realistic" then he still doesn't have to say it because you always measure north

Yes, there is a way. Go to your caravan settings, and go to the top tab, called "overview". To get to the caravan settings, click on the "Caravan Menu" tab on the right hand side of your HUD (this is for when you are in a city).

If you are not in the city (wandering out in the wastes), look to the top right of your hud. You should see on the top three little notches (circular in shape) with shapes above them. One of them has a cylindrical shape; click on this to get to your caravan menu.

Once there, go to the "overview tab", and then look to your bottom middle of your hud. there should be a tab called "manage containers". in there, you can reserve containers for different fluids, or even outright ban containers from having liquid being poured into them (very convenient when trying to reserve space for certain expensive liquid goods, like oil or special animal milk, or reserving space for gasoline when you have vehicles - they guzzle so much gas... where is Honda when you need one xD)

Hope that helps!

I looted 3 vehicles from the 5 or 4 groups of enemies (i don't remember,I was playing at 6 am...). But it is possible that I destroyed the other two(or one) because I gave my whole squad grenade launchers so I hit the vehicles multiple times (the only way I could defeat them)

Hey, thanks a lot man. If you dont mind, one more question pertaining to this.

I have a pure horse and cart caravan (probably the most cost efficent way to go about the game if you do not have a steady supply of fuel or a intelligently designed trade route, like me lol) like most people at this stage; would selling off my animals be smart before I launch the attack at the final city?

Also, how is the fuel consumption. It looks like a beast (the super truck or w.e), but if it costs more to fuel it then the equivalent amount to fuel those Toe Cutters, it might not be economically sound.

If no one replies to my queries, I will probably discover the answers soon enough, and I will post my findings a little later on. Wish we had spoiler tags! (dev team, that is a humble request! xD))

I can't tell you what's smart or not i can only give you the facts. Oh and they're called "UMI ALPHA".
Max load: 12000kg
Passengers: 32
Speed: 16
Fuel consumption: 43L
Fuel tank capacity: 350L
Weight: 4500kg

It takes around 8000L to travel between the furthest towns on the map, so you don't need to stop even once. I don't know about horse traveling, since i sold all of them when i got the trucks. But you need waaaaaaaaaaay less water if you sell the horses, however you need to buy food since you won't be producing anymore of that delicious horse milk.
You can find fuel in Qubba and Ausz, so that shouldn't be a problem. I don't know about the costs of UMI traveling vs the cost of Horse traveling, but i think it doesn't matter after the big fight. I don't want to spoil what happens after that, but if you're still interested you can send me a private message.
Also I would recommend Grenade launchers and M21's in the big fight. I think they're the most powerful weapons? Idk... It's just my opinion.

IMO the truck is much better than anything because you need 1 guy to drive it and it gives you around 7,5k of storage. You'd need a lot of toe cutters and drivers to get the same amount of storage and you'd probably use more fuel? No idea, I'm to lazy to do the calculations.

Well it makes sense, since you do have to get off your animal to forage and hunt. But if i remember correctly it reduces the speed by a %, and i think it would be better it it reduced it by a fixed amount, since foraging doesn't depend on the type of transport you are using(provided you get about the same amount of forage/km)

Only one 10 degrees direction possible? What do you mean? A compass has numerous directions. And "always measure north"? I'm not sure where you come from, maybe that's a custom in your country, but in the United States there is no such practice of "always measur[ing] north."

The game makes a mistake by not specifying which direction is being referred to, not sure why you disagree.

The game makes no mistake. If you look at the map and if you select a start point and an end point it will tell you the direction you need to go( in degrees). A circle has 360 degrees, also the map in caravaneer is open in all directions, therefore you can go in any of the 360 degrees. Anything more than 360 degrees, i.e. 420, would basically mean 60 degrees all over again. It depends on where the 0 degrees is placed. The Caravaneer 2 0 degree line is the Y+ axis. And it measures degrees in a clockwise fashion. So the 10 degree direction would be slightly east of the Y+ axis. In mathematics,(in trigonometric functions or circular functions) the 0 degrees line would be on the X+ axis where as 90 would be on the Y+ axis(anti-clockwise). It all depends on how the directions system is built in which case, the games instructions are correct.

At that stage? Pretty much a yes. :P
It gets better with constant use, and is quite a lifesaver if you've missed your mark by a few degrees.

Edit: If YOU (alone) are overloaded, you are unable to move.
If your animal-drawn weight is overloaded (by a few weight measurements), the speed drops by 20%, stopping entirely if the weight overload is...about 10% over? (unsure however I was overloaded for around ~5% and still could move).

Vehicles are unsure due to me lacking millions to buy them but I believe the same, first rule, applies here.

--Hunting/Foraging/Hiding--

Hunting messes up my food and hydration calculations, and I can't stand going any slower than I have to, so I always turn it off. How useful is hunting in your opinion? Foraging?

I would prefer hunting/foraging to yield more food/forage and to train faster, BUT to only be possible when your caravan is stopped. This would turn hunting/foraging into a way to offset the consumption losses of stopping your caravan. Once players are more comfortable with stopping their caravan they will use the hiding feature more. Honestly, does anyone really use hiding? I prefer to move fast and straight and kill everything in my path because to get more food/water/money.

This final note is just me dreaming, but wouldn't it be entertaining to be able to stop anyplace on the map and enter the battle screen to hunt for animals? Or maybe have small animals randomly appear on battle maps. Then we can TRULY hunt.

That's a great idea. I'd love to be able to pay for female animal fertilization at Livestock Markets. That way I wouldn't have to pay for the entire male animal. This would be especially useful for goats, since male goats are useless.

Speaking of goats, I wish goats and sheep could carry cargo, even a little bit. Please! Around 5kg for goats and 7kg for sheep.

Hi, US citizen here, there's only one 10 degree on a compass. Always measuring from the north is an extremely common and basic concept, you probably learned it in high school with circles, the top is always zero and it always moves clockwise.

Incorrect, in the US we always measure north when dealing with degrees's whether its mathematical or used on a map.

1. Thank you so so much for this amazing game. I really hope there is enough interest to eventually move onto C3, C4 etc. This game concept is the best I've played since civ 1 when I was 14.

2. What happened to the previous thread?? There was a lot of good info in there. Backup?

3. A suggestion: Supplying water to industry is a nightmare. I assume it would be the same with all liquids (cheese etc)- because you can't buy more than your containers can hold. This makes farming very difficult, would really like a way to get supplies into the industry that took fewer repetitive clicks.

4. Noticed a bug (I think) - the gun sound effects are often absent. This could be on my end, but I'll often notice there are no gun reports so shooting is silent unless I hit the target or a wall in which case I get the "oof!" or the "zing!" I tried to submit a report but it didn't work.

5. Thank you again.

Hey, thank you so much Lucas! Definitely good stuff there.

The only issue I am running into is the fact that I keep "killing" the trucks; the Uni Alphas have how much health, exactly? Sorry for the continued questions, but I just cant seem to get my hand on one.

Perhaps its because I switched over to Grenade Launchers; the nades that miss seem to invariably ram straight into the truck, doing 500-100 damage a time. I think that after 3-4 of those, the truck "breaks"; it would be nice to have some visual confirmation of this, but I wont complain. (brilliant beta as it is, I have no intention of bitching about something small like that)

But yeah, any tips on taking them out without doing massive damage to the tank thing would be great.

Last thing; the Qubba troops and the Liberation army are the only avaliable allies, right? I got Lois and a girl commander from the oil city down south, but other than that, I did not find any other willing fighters in the "free" states and the "slave" states of the south. Oh well. And those armies seem quite useless, as it seems that even one Federation army can take out all 5 invading Qubba armies in a single sweep. Bit disheartening, as my band of 22 soldiers can reliably hold there own against 2 groups, but 4? Dang, maybe, but with almost all my loved men dead or wounded beyond recognition...

Anyway, I always thought directions were given like "10° North", and I don't think most people will know what "ten degrees direction" means, but it's not that big a deal. I didn't realize there would be this much disagreement over this. People will figure it out from checking the map either way.

A bigger issue I think is the save feature, I'm not seeing how to save games other than turning on the autosave, which doesn't let you save multiple games. That will be a serious playability factor, along with the crashing during battles. The direction stuff is just a minor detail.
